Zero Holding Deposit

Because trust goes both ways.

No card pre-authorisation. No security deposit held against your account. Just your rental, your keys, and your money exactly where it belongs — with you.

Change the routine

Your money should keep moving with you.

For decades, renting a car has followed the same routine. You choose your vehicle, complete the paperwork, hand over your card — and a substantial holding deposit is placed against your available funds.

Holding deposits have always served a purpose. They protect the rental company against damage, traffic fines and incidental costs. But for you, the experience is rarely painless: a significant amount of your money becomes unavailable, often for weeks. Even after you return the vehicle, the release depends on your bank’s processing time. It has been accepted for so long that few people stop to ask whether there is a better way.

“Sometimes the greatest innovation isn't adding a feature. It's removing an unnecessary obstacle.”

How Zero Holding Deposit works

Zero Holding Deposit means no card pre-authorisation or security deposit is required when you collect your vehicle. A daily Zero Holding Deposit fee applies instead.

1

Choose your vehicle

Start your online booking as normal. Select your branch, dates and vehicle.

2

Select Zero Holding Deposit

If the vehicle group qualifies, the option appears first in your online booking.

3

Collect without a hold

No pre-authorisation. No deposit debited. Your available balance stays untouched.

To qualify, your booking requires:

200km

Minimum per rental day

Super Cover

Included with the option

If either is not already selected, it will be added to your booking automatically when you choose the ‘Zero Holding Deposit’ option.

Terms and Exclusions

The fine print in plain language

Zero Holding Deposit removes the deposit. It does not remove your responsibilities as a driver. Here is exactly where you stand.

  • Zero Holding Deposit is available on selected vehicle groups only. If the option does not appear in your booking, your chosen vehicle group does not qualify.
  • The option is subject to credit assessment and approval. Where approval is not granted, our standard holding deposit requirements apply.
  • You can speed this up by completing our Pre-Approval Credit Check before you collect. We process submissions Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.
  • A minimum of 200 km per rental day.
  • Super Cover.
  • The Zero Holding Deposit fee, charged per rental day and shown in full before payment.
  • All standard collection requirements still apply — valid driver’s licence, ID or passport, and a card in the renter’s name with the cardholder present.
  • Any term of the rental contract is breached
  • Damage is sustained while the renter or driver is in violation of any traffic law or ordinance
  • Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving
  • The vehicle is driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • The vehicle is driven on restricted or unrecognised roads
  • The vehicle is driven over the national speed limit for the road being travelled
  • Vehicle height restrictions are not adhered to
  • Zero Holding Deposit covers the deposit — not additional charges arising from your rental. You remain responsible for, among others:
  • Fuel (all vehicles are refuelled on return; a 10% admin fee applies where we refuel for you)
  • Excess kilometres beyond your selected allowance
  • Late returns and additional days
  • Traffic violations and the associated fine handling fee
  • Valet charges where the interior is spoiled, marked or smells of tobacco smoke
  • Any damage falling within the exclusions above
Before you book
